We must build thousands of permanently affordable social housing units to ensure that every Austinite has a place to call home.
Invest in Austin-Travis County EMS and our emergency services districts to eliminate out-of-network ambulance transport fees for all residents. (currently $1000+ !)
We will expand Central Health, the public county hospital system, to ensure everyone has access to quality, affordable healthcare as a human right.
Impose an indefinite moratorium on jail construction and expansion to invest in social services that address the root causes of crime.
Ensure that companies who receive investment, tax breaks or purchase land from the county sign labor peace agreements to respect workers' rights, including Tesla.
Invest in high-quality public transportation, bike lanes and sidewalks for a county where everyone has the ability to get where they need to go.
Our public schools are under attack by Greg Abbott and facing a major budget deficit. Travis County needs to step up and invest in our school district to protect our children.
I’m Reese Ricci Armstrong, a student advocate, community organizer and democratic socialist raised here in Austin. As chair of the Liberal Arts and Science Academy Young Democratic Socialists of America and Students United, I organized students to fight for fairer workdays, special education and mental health support. At Hack Club, I organized underpaid and overworked young nonprofit staffers, eventually curbing boss favoritism with open applications and winning full employment instead of independent contractor status; raising their wages and improving benefits. I’ve spent my entire life fighting for my community, and now I’m running for county commissioner in Precinct 2 to fight Travis County's cost of living crisis and allow everyone an affordable, dignified life.
